Cool Jewels: Green Girl Studios’ Handmade Pewter Pendants and Charms
I’ve been in love with Green Girl Studios‘ whimsical handmade pewter pendants and beads ever since I found them back in 2008… and I’ve worn my Robin Head and Home Nest charms almost every day since then!
With limitless selection of cuddly woodland charms on their site it’s definitely hard to choose a favorite. The attention to detail is impeccable and, as a small family run business, it’s great to see that they still carve and cast everything themselves. They’re the perfect addition to any outfit and look adorable on colorful thin satin ribbon or cord. Great for gifts as well!

Another Day, Another Ripped Off Design…
“There have been loads of copycats since this series of admittedly simplistic t-shirt designs, created by Alyssa Zukas, first appeared at Urban Outfitters in 2007. Most of the biters were clever enough to change things a bit, but not this time. They even had the nerve to use the original Urban Outfitters product photography, AND Alyssa’s name, all over their site. The original tees have “Alyssa Zukas” and a bio screenprinted into the inner neck tag area, along with Urban’s made-up store brand “Spark in the Dark.”
Yes, that’s right… my shirts have been jacked once again! Check out the “you thought we wouldn’t notice” post to see the whole article including comparison shots and get the word out there about crappy counterfeiting!

Before and After Owl Wall Plaque On Design*Sponge!
Thanks to Design*Sponge for posting about my Before and After owl parts!
… their readers’ verdict on my redo: CREEPY! And I kinda have to agree… Frames are some of the most uninteresting and bland things out there these days so I’m always looking for new ways to show off artwork and prints. Plus, the owl parts have such a big kitsch-factor that I don’t think there’s anything I could to make them not look creepy.
Plus, what’s better than a pair of glossy owl eyes following your every move? I’d say not much!
Look familiar? Strange, I didn’t think I worked with Kmart. (Counterfeit / ripoff alert)
Say what you will about Kmart… I didn’t think they’d stoop this low. Friends of mine were there earlier today and gave me a call to let me know that a t-shirt they saw there looked very similar to the Heart Tee I did as part of my Urban Outfitters artist series tees in 2008. A quick online search later, and lookie here… a bit familiar, dontcha think?
And some more that may have been… oh… lightly “inspired by” my original designs:
I guess imitation is the highest form of flattery and yadda yadda. On the bright side, it looks like my stuff has caught on so much that big-box stores want their little piece of the action. But I’ll be honest with you—it’s not like I’m making bank on my designs… I still rely on every single item I sell to make ends meet.
What do you think… outright theft? Or [gag]… fair use? Sound off in the comments. I’m pretty P’ed-O and I could use some moral support.

Find My Tees on TV and I’ll give you $5!
I’ve been hearing a lot lately that my tees have been seen on all kinds of shows but since I’m not much of a hardcore TV watcher I’ve never been able to find out which, where and when… and that’s where you come in!
Here’s a list of the shows/episodes I’ve been able to track down:
The Hills, Episode 412: “I Want You To Be With Me”
Project Runway, Episode: “College-Age Women” Challenge
America’s Best Dance Crew, Season 2, Week 1: worn by “Fanny Pak” dancer
SO… If you’ve seen any of my tees (you can find them all on “The Goods” section of my site) on TV, or in print somewhere (like a magazine, etc.) send me a message with the show, title, episode, article etc. AND have a screenshot or picture of the shirt on the show or in print and I’LL GIVE YOU $5 towards your next order for any of my tees in my Etsy shop!**
(**Submissions will be judged on a first come first served basis. Duplicate submissions will not recieve $5 credit. I reserve the right to reject submissions for any reason. Rejected submissions will not be used and $5 coupon will not apply. Offer void where prohibited.)
RIP MJ Michael Jackson Tribute to the 80s Shirt Now Online
I’m sure MJ’s death is as much of a shock to all of you as it is to me… may he rest in peace. So, in tribute to the ever fashion forward and musically gifted Michael Jackson I’ve come up with a tribute shirt that I hope will do his name some justice! I’ve used the perfect sheer muscle tee, in true 80s Michael Jackson style, that can be dressed up or down for any occasion and am offering one-of-a-kind hand stenciled printings of this design! I custom print each “RIP MJ” design on 100 percent cotton white scoop neck muscle tee and will hand stud the MJ in washable gold round faceted studs just for you!
Check out my Etsy store to show your support!
PS: if there are any guys out there who would like this shirt printed on a Mens tee email me or message me on Etsy and I’ll set up a listing for you!
Super Duper Sunnies: Oversized overdone? Go Hi Tek with Alexander!
With summer inching closer, it’s that time again when sunglasses are brought to the forefront of fashion. Oversized shades have had reign over the market for too long now and it’s definitely time for a change… especially after seeing all those cute round sunnies on the likes of Alexa Chung and Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen.
So I got to thinking and searching until I stumbled upon the goldmine that is Alexander Hi Tek — a London based designer who makes some of the coolest wares around! A veteran designer of the 80s and 90s, his sunglasses are on par with the big designers (think Karen Walker shades but less pricey and better selection!)… but they’re definitely not for the feint of heart! And with prices starting around 30 EUR they’re pretty reasonable for designer sunglasses and a real piece of 80s history! I suggest you grab a pair before he realizes he can charge 5 times that price…
Check out some of his amazing designs below!
Awesome color combos!
John Lennon Style in basically any color you can think of
Not your Grandpa’s Flip Ups…
***And there’s more where that came from… check out his site to see his entire collection. It’s definitely a testament to the fact that if your behind the times long enough you’ll become ahead of your time again… I just wish I was a hip enough little kid in the 80s to know about him!

Urban Outfitters Pillows on moseyblog!
Thanks so much to moseyblog for the stellar post about my Artist Series Pillows for Urban Outfitters!
New Pillows are Up Online!
The new pillows made it up on the website and they look totally amazing! I wanted to make some pillows with some 70s flair and handiwork and Urban Outfitters did a great job working with that vibe. AND you don’t have to worry about that “grandma’s couch” straight out of the 70s smell! What more could you ask for…
Check them out here.

Shirts on TV… again!
My sister gave me a heads up that another of my shirts was sighted, this time on “The Hills”… We got a screenshot of it so check it out! Pretty awesome… I sure am getting a lot of free press from MTV! I think it’s on Episode 412: “I Want You To Be With Me”
Alyssa’s T-shirts on TV: Project Runway
Holy cow. So lemme preface this by saying that my t-shirts have been seen on quite a few TV shows, including America’s Best Dance Crew and So You Think You Can Dance… I’ve even heard rumors that they were seen on Survivor and Dr. Phil. I found all of these equally amazing, but none as amazing as what happened today.
So I’m watching Project Runway (season 5) as usual, specifically the episode where “college-age women” were brought in, along with their mothers, as clients. Halfway through the show, my man Tim Gunn sends in the clients. Lo and behold, Jerell Scott’s client Caitlin is wearing my Urban Outfitters star t-shirt. Need proof? Check these out.
Cottonable: “Urban Outfitters’s 8 Sexiest V-Neck T’s This Summer”
So I was checking out my usual “morning coffee” of blogs and found this. According to Cottonable, the Alyssa Zukas Heart Tee is one of their picks for Urban Outfitters’ 8 sexiest v-necks of the summer. And it’s right up there in the number two spot (not that they’re in numerical order or anything but i’ll just assume they are, wink, wink). Pretty sweet!
