A bit about myself: I’m a self-taught designer, and I find ways to work across many different media, including designing t-shirts, painting, drawing, jewelry-making, sculpture, photography, interior design, vintage upcycling and merchandising. Two String Jane was started to bring colorful, crafty and good quality clothing to everyone. When it comes to fashion, I focus on making designs that are wearable, easy to pair with and bold… playfully fun, really, since that’s what I think life’s all about!
A bit about my creative process: I draw my influences from the everyday simple things and turn them into wearable pop art. When I design, I start out by sketching a design on paper. Designs are then hand cut into stencils and from there I let the design speak to its own colors. I believe stenciling gives much richer textures and lends itself to more creativity.
The dyeing process: My original “Splash Dye ” technique creates vibrant splashes of color while staying environmentally friendly and more colorfast than traditional dyeing. It’s a modern interpretation of traditional tie dyeing which allows for more free-form patterns to emerge.
